Each piston is thoroughly inspected and professionally prepped in-house before receiving Kill Devil Diesel’s proprietary Red Titanium piston coating, custom-formulated for us by Cerakote. This coating is engineered to withstand the extreme thermal and mechanical demands of high-output diesel engines.
Unlike many piston coatings on the market that can burn off, flake, or degrade under sustained heat, KDD’s Red Titanium coating is proven in real-world abuse. We’ve personally tested it in engines that routinely see exhaust gas temperatures exceeding 2,000 degrees. In these conditions, the coating did not fail – it remained intact and continued to act as an effective thermal barrier, protecting the piston crown from excessive heat.
The result is improved durability under extreme load, better heat management, and added protection in applications where piston survival matters most. This is not a theoretical lab coating – it’s a solution proven in the same engines we build, race, and stand behind.
